Jazz Ensemble Auditions:
The Jazz Ensemble is an advanced level performance group. We explore the vast repertoire of such bands as the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Count Basie Big Band, the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra (now the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra), Dizzy Gillespie and Gerald Wilson. The major area of focus is upon interpretation and improvisation. This class meets at 7:30am every morning and is available for fine arts credit. This class is an advanced extension of our Band and Orchestra classes. Students participating in Jazz Ensemble are expected to also be in either Band or Orchestra.
Auditions will be held the first full week of school September 11-15 before and after school. Audition sign-up sheets will be outside the door to room 271 the first day of school. Auditions will be a little different this year. Check in the music room (271) for audition requirements and schedule.
